Mechanism
The response, not the snapshot.
A fasting glucose or an A1c tells you an average. A continuous monitor tells you what your own body did after your own breakfast — how high it went, how long it stayed there, how fast it came back.
A small sensor worn on the upper arm reads interstitial glucose continuously and streams it to an app. Two sensors covers a full month.
Most people find one or two specific meals are doing most of the damage, and that is a far easier thing to change than a whole diet.

Continuous glucose monitoring is established in diabetes care and increasingly used to characterise glucose variability in people without diabetes.
Post-meal glucose responses vary substantially between individuals eating identical meals, which is the argument for measuring rather than assuming.
Evidence that CGM improves outcomes in people without diabetes is still developing. It is best understood as a measurement tool, not a treatment.
Results vary. Clinical trial results apply only to the FDA-approved branded medication specifically identified and do not apply to compounded medications. All medications must be prescribed by a licensed provider based on medical necessity.
Safety and eligibility

- Skin reactions at the sensor site are the most common issue; rotate arms.
- Readings lag blood glucose by several minutes — treat trends, not single numbers.
- Not a diagnostic device for diabetes. Diagnosis is made on standard blood testing.
- Can drive over-monitoring in some people. If it makes eating stressful, stop and say so.
