Mechanism

Two gut hormones, one injection.

Tirzepatide acts on two hormone receptors, GLP-1 and GIP, rather than one. Together they slow digestion, reduce appetite and improve how the body responds to insulin, which is why dual-acting agents often outperform single-pathway GLP-1 medications on average weight loss in clinical trials.

Zepbound is FDA-approved specifically for chronic weight management in adults with obesity, or overweight with a related health condition, and is dosed on an escalating weekly schedule to minimize nausea and other gastrointestinal side effects.

Your clinician determines your starting dose and adjusts it over time based on your response and tolerance.
