Mechanism
A GLP-1 built for weight management.
Semaglutide, the active ingredient in Wegovy, mimics a naturally occurring gut hormone called GLP-1, which slows digestion and signals fullness to the brain. The result is reduced appetite and fewer calories consumed without a feeling of restriction.
Wegovy is FDA-approved specifically for chronic weight management in adults with obesity, or overweight with a related health condition, and is dosed on an escalating weekly schedule to minimize nausea and other gastrointestinal side effects.

How the cost breaks down.
Medication is paid separately to NovoCare Pharmacy. If prescribed during your live visit with a licensed clinician, your prescription is sent directly to NovoCare for billing and home delivery. Wegovy pricing is determined by NovoCare and Novo Nordisk, and may change at any time.
Safety and eligibility
Your consult and labs screen for all of the following.
- Not suitable for everyone, GLP-1 medications are not appropriate for patients with a personal or family history of certain thyroid cancers or MEN 2, among other exclusions your clinician will screen for.
- Common side effects, include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and decreased appetite, especially during dose increases.
- Live visit required, Wegovy is prescribed only after a live visit with a licensed clinician, not from a questionnaire alone.
- Results vary, individual weight loss results vary, and are not guaranteed.
